Hi there!
I’m a fitness professional. Having used and seen a lot of different brands of treadmills, I can tell you there’s a huge difference in quality among certain treadmills and they’re not all created equal… You should stay away from brands such as Edge (disposable units), Nautilus (product recalls), and ICON brands of products (quality & noise issues). The ICON brand includes such names as NordicTrack, ProForm, Weider, Weslo, Cadence, Image, Epic, Reebok, HealthRider, & Gold’s Gym, while the Nautilus brand includes Bowflex & Nautilus. Remember you get what you pay for!
I’d suggest a Horizon Fitness treadmill (T81, T82, or T83) or elliptical (EX56, EX66, or EX76) because they’re great units, with features, styling, and noise suppression that it’s competitors can’t match. Horizon is pure quality (no flimsiness), with excellent warranties and for their price (as low as $ 598) Horizon’s the best deal around! Horizon products fit in most locations. Their treadmills include a “feather-light” folding system, deck cushioning, console fan, varied program & incline selections, 2.0 – 2.5 HP motors, speeds to 10 – 12 mph, 275 – 325 lb. maximum user weight capacities, contact heart rate sensors, heavy gauge steel frames, etc. Their ellipticals include varied program selections, to 8 – 16 resistance settings, heavy duty front drive flywheels, 18″ – 19″ stride lengths, pivoting footpads, 250 – 300 lb. maximum user weight capacities, contact heart rate sensors, heavy gauge steel frames, etc.
As far as where to find Horizon products, you’ll get great service at the lowest prices by buying on-line from A2Z Fit (link & phone below), a company that I always send my clients to. Over the years, their product knowledge and genuine willingness to match users to the right equipment is what’s sold me on their company. Plus you’ll get Free inside delivery, extra discounts, financing, and no sales tax (except when shipping to PA). Get in touch with A2Z Fit. I’m sure they can help you out… I hope that’s of benefit to you!

What’s better the elliptical exercise machine or a stationary bike?
Jul 10th
Question by StillHaveALongWay2GO: What’s better the elliptical exercise machine or a stationary bike?
Hubby and I are having a disagreement on whether to purchase a elliptical machine or a stationary bike for the family. Mainly due to the fact that we allowed our son to gain to much weight for his age. Anyway, I think for the best overall cardio workout an elliptical machine would be a better choice for the entire family. My son sits down all day at school so why would I want him to exercise sitting down. What do you think?

I think the elliptical would be the better option also, it targets your core and your moving your whole body instead of sitting

What’s the safest home exercise equipment when you have very young children in the house?

Question by Dave of the Hill People: What’s the safest home exercise equipment when you have very young children in the house?
When one has young children (under the age of three), one obviously ends up spending a good deal of time at home & it’s difficult to get to the gym. However, most treadmills and exercise bikes have moving parts that are dangerous for small, curious toddlers. Is there home exercise equipment out there that is child-safe, or ways to better child-proof home exercise equipment you already have?

BoFlex! It’s all a system of plastic rods that aren’t weight but offer resistance and, even if you pull on them or play with them they won’t fall on you or smack you or anything. It’s very safe, I have 4 little siblings and they haven’t been injured yet.
